Curlew Cottage is in a quiet corner of the historic village of Burghead, lapped on three sides by the waters of the inner Moray Firth. A couple of minutes' walk from the cottage takes you to the busy little working harbour and headland, once a Pictish fort, or to the beach and dunes, fringed by the pines of Roseisle Forest.

Burghead has good services, most just round the corner from Curlew Cottage: pubs, Co-op shop, post office, pharmacy, hairdresser, library and direct bus service to Elgin, 8 miles (12 km) away, where most of the major national chains and supermarkets have outlets.
